Love: An Introduction

If I were to say that “love is energy”, would you understand? When we think of energy, we often think of electrical energy transmitted through wires, solar energy captured in solar cells, or even wind energy transferred through propellers. We learn in school that energy can neither be created nor destroyed, but only transformed. Scientists haven’t the foggiest clue as to what energy really is substantially, so they simply define it as the “capacity to do work”. Most of us though do not realize that love is a form of energy. Love energy can be stored as well as transferred and transformed from one person to another, through touch, loving thoughts expressed in books and poems, in loving words of support and encouragement, in kind deeds, thoughtful gifts, heroic acts of service, and much more. As scientists have more recently observed, love energy can even be stored in objects, whether stones or machines or even water molecules. Love can be shared in times of togetherness, in times of inspired creativity, in times of constructive activity and of building something in partnership and collaboration. And as we soak in the love, we bloom. When love energy is held back, we die of neglect and heartbreak, deprived of the very essence that comprises our beingness. When my husband recently went into an animal shelter to give love to the kitties there (ours have passed and he needs to share love that stores up inside for kitties in particular), he said he had an “aha!” moment. He had heard me talk about love as an energy and didn’t really get it. But on this day, he saw a grey cat looking withered and listless. He held and petted it, scratching its back and little butt near the tail, underneath its chin, up on its head between its ears, and he watched in newfound understanding as the cat returned to life, as Lazarus from the grave. We have been lost to love in our lives. It is time it is found and harnessed for our complete transformation in this 21st century.

Consciousness

What is consciousness, anyway?

Simply put, consciousness is a field of energy vibration carrying information.

Metaphorically, consciousness as a whole is the entire ocean of all energy waves that have coalesced at a meeting point, some damp sand or rocky shore we call matter. Consciousness is the arrayed field of energy waves that whirl information into structured form.

Consciousness is the collective field of all energetic vibration, faster and slower, which underlies and provides the informational blueprint for all existence.

Consciousness is the unified love between pure energy and material form. From the intercourse of pure energy with matter, consciousness emerges.

Consciousness, beingness, love, attention, intention…is there really a difference?

Client Heals Decade-Lasting Depression After One Session

sunorangedawn

sunorangedawnA new client came into my office recently, complaining of bipolar depression and other related emotional and physical symptoms she said had troubled her for over a decade. I asked what she had already done to try to heal her relentless fatigue, brain fog, inability to focus on her work, failing memory (hich she said had previously been photographic and now a struggle), the mounting anxiety and resultant depression.

She described over ten years’ worth of visiting various doctors, being diagnosed with depression by some and bipolar by others. Wiping away tears, she listed the multiple medications she had been prescribed, and explained how none had seemed to bring back her once vibrant sense of self. Her thirties were almost past. No longer on medication, she was now ready to try the more holistic and integrative approach to healing. Her marriage was effected, other relationships were strained, and her career as an executive was in jeopardy. As she stopped speaking, her eyes looked deeply into mine, as if I were her last hope.

I began to further assess her nutrition, inquiring as to how much sunlight and/or vitamin D3 she was receiving, how many healthy foods and/or supplements she was taking.

It sounded like she was eating, quite frankly, better than the average American. We talked about the role of various vitamins and minerals in treating depression, anxiety and bipolar. She listened as I went on and on about the importance of supplementing with liquid D3 in combination with calcium, and the role of D3 in making the body’s biochemicals; the significance of omega 3s, B6 and B12 particularly for the nervous system, brain fog, memory and concentration; and the benefits of at least a whole food multivitamin. Clearly motivated to heal, she appeared focused as we discussed the hazards of sugar, the need for healthy plant proteins like beans and legumes, and the role of cinnamon in balancing blood sugar. Glancing over the handouts I had given her (one on anxiety, another on depression, a third on improved sleep), she agreed to have her doctor test her for deficiencies and insufficiencies, and to approve dosages and combinations.

What is Love, Actually?

swirlinggalaxy

I wish I could give you a taste of
the burning fire of Love.
There is a fire
blazing inside of me.
If I cry about it, or if I don’t,
the fire is at work,
night and day.

-Jelaluddin Rumi, 13th century Sufi mystic, as translated by Shahram Shiva

The mystics have long described love as a fiery force.

Most of us, however, have largely reduced love to sex. Yet, to simplify or reduce this burning fire of love to sex, is like reducing or equating ourselves with our reproductive organs, though they are indeed one aspect of the self we know as “I”.

What is love actually? The mystics’ metaphor for love, “fire” symbolizes the fire of mind, of illumination, of awareness and of pure consciousness itself. In its pure essence, love is THE spiral cyclic energy whirling all manifested creation within its ever-expanding ring of fire. Where love energy moves, form follows, evolves and expands.

The Essence of Love

sun and moon

Human love is…
a mere reflection of its parent, the moon to the sun, the shadow to the source of light above;
a work in progress, imperfect in its incompletion, blocked by fear and its sons of neediness;
unfolded through goodness of heart, truth of mind, and harmony in physical expression;
authentic beingness;
the process of building and creating together, me helping you manifest your beneficent dreams to cohere our world, you supporting mine;
mutual support for one another, constant and unfailing at its finest;
a conscious choice to love you for who you are, for no particular reason, not for anything in return for myself, a more pure love;
harmless in motive, constructive in reality and in effectiveness;
a wise and reciprocal understanding, compassion born of empathic experience, the experience of the other, freely entered in;
a sense of expansion into “we”-ness from the once contracted and lonely “I”;
a vibrational quickening, a fusion of awareness into socially shared consciousness;
co-operation, co-participation, co-creation at its best.

Pure love is…
an energy so strong, it builds universes out of its vibration;
an energy so complex, it can only be described multidimensionally, holographically,
transforming visible universe into unseen multi-verse with its song, and falling back again in a gyration of rhythmic breath;
the energy of expansion and creativity that streams through all things and glues us together in oneness;
the sun to the moon, the source of light on high casting a whirling net of shadows below;
the quantum field of consciousness itself, born of Spirit infused into matter,
quickening life out of apparent nothingness, bringing awareness into being and subjectivity into objectivity;
a spectrum of synchronistic collective activity and movement, perceived or not, streaming through every form and structure in some diluted fashion;
unconditional, unyielding, unlimited.

See Cloud Atlas

If you haven’t seen the movie Cloud Atlas yet, I highly recommend it. It’s a wonderful film about consciousness and love interconnecting us across multiple lifetimes, and uniting us in shared opportunity and purpose.

What is Consciousness?

headburst

Traditional psychology asserts that consciousness is an “epiphenomenon” of the brain. Believing in the conventional materialist worldview, this group of researchers says that consciousness is somehow created by the brain. Notice that if we believe that every-thing is material, then there is no such “thing” as soul or spiritual existence, no life after the death of the physical body, no consciousness without the brain, no experience that cannot be explained by a physical process. Neuroscientists are busy mapping out which objective parts of the brain correspond to specific types of subjective experience (for example, the multisensory state of consciousness that arises as we inhale the aroma of apple pie baking in the oven). But correlation doesn’t necessarily prove causation.

So far, the latest science shows that our mental and emotional consciousness seems to be present in every cell, not just in the brain. And furthermore, evidence continues to pile up for consciousness independent of the brain and body. Just ask Dr. Eben Alexander, previously a skeptic, now a believer that consciousness is actually “freed up” when it disconnects from the brain, allowing us to experience higher states of existence and knowing. A Harvard and Duke trained neuroscientist, Dr. Alexander has documented his transpersonal near-death experience of out-of-body consciousness in his new book Proof of Heaven: A Neurosurgeon’s Journey Through the Afterlife. (You can find out more from his site http://www.linkedin.com/pub/eben-alexander-iii-md/a/345/202).

Consider that consciousness is the underlying field of energy that comprises all objective and subjective reality. That means that every-thing and every no-thing is based upon and constructed from consciousness. The entire spectrum of wave vibrational energy carrying information, consciousness spans the slower lower waves of vibration as well as the faster higher pulses of existence. That’s the cutting edge worldview we see after observing the latest data that comes from quantum physics and consciousness research.
