Spiritually Transformative Experience
Definition
An experience in consciousness that changes how a person sees life (an STE). STEs may include mystical experiences, near-death and out-of-body experiences, awakenings and expanded consciousness, precognition, telepathy, after-death and shared-death communications, contact with angels or higher-dimensional beings, past-life memories, noetic dreams, synchronicities, new energy sensitivity or kundalini, and spiritual emergence or emergency. An IANDS symposium found it usually takes 5 to 30 years to integrate one.
